Sitting With it
As we approach the dark moon phase of this moon cycle, I felt “Sit with it” a poignant topic to share. The dark moon phase offers us less light and the opportunity to go within and acknowledge all that we have been tucking away, undealt with during the current cycle. Its a great time to journal about our challenges, our lessons and of course our gratitude’s.
Sit with it is an expression which I learned from my mentors some years ago. At the time I was doing pretty much anything but sitting with it. I was in fact trying my hardest to run from my feelings. I was scared that I might spiral out of control if I slowed down at all so I used busyness as my way of “managing my life”.
Once I was encourage and therefore found my courage to sit down, be still and allow my feelings to emerge that I realised they were less overwhelming than I thought. I discovered by allowing and even inviting my feelings to arise that whilst they can be intense but simply staying with them they shifted to reveal a new insight and then either released or integrated so I could get to know myself more fully and deeply.
I have created a daily practise of “sitting with” my feelings, doing body scans in my morning meditation practise to feel any tightness or resistance and by not judging and simply observing the energy does what it needs to move through me and on its way. Sometimes with a message or insight and sometimes not.
Sitting with my feelings has led me to honour all parts of myself, the shame parts, the humiliated, vulnerable and self deprecating parts and continues to allow me to move away from self judgement and mental abuse to loving kindness and forgiveness.
Its not easy and it is ongoing, however I am so grateful that I do find the courage to do this work as my commitment to myself and to helping heal our world.
I honour you and your bravery for doing this work, your healing has a beautiful healing ripple effect on our world and that is such a blessing.
If you find yourself in need of support during your healing journey, please reach and ask for the support you need. If that’s through my services, I look forward to connecting with you.
